About
About Us
Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a rapidly developing branch of engineering. The department's education program will adapt to this rapid change and train engineers who can follow, implement and develop new technological developments and have leadership and creativity qualities.
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering provides education and training on basic engineering concepts, design and analysis of electrical and electronic circuits and systems, communication systems, electrical facilities, electrical machines, control and automation systems and solutions to their industrial problems.
Graduates of the department gain knowledge and skills in industrial automation and control, as well as design and analysis skills in electrical facilities, electrical machines, electronics and communications.
The main difference from Electrical and Electronics Engineering within Engineering Faculties is that it provides practice-oriented education. In addition to the summer internships of 20 working days after the second year and 20 working days after the third year, our students are required to receive workplace training for one semester.
Our department aims to train electrical and electronics engineers who gain expertise in the discipline of electrical and electronics engineering, who can control and direct the design, implementation and application processes, who can obtain and use the required information, transfer it to the product development process and especially put this information into practice.
The Place of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Technological Developments
Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a multidisciplinary and integrated branch of engineering that has emerged with the changing market conditions and customer expectations as a result of the rapid advancement of technology in our age. The information age we are in is heading in a direction where artificial intelligence, automation, control and robotic technologies are used in the product development process and therefore in the industry, and smart products/systems are increasingly preferred.
Employment Status
Employment of graduates: The application areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering are expanding day by day and in parallel with this, the need for qualified personnel in the electronics and automation sector is increasing rapidly. Department graduates are expected to work in the Defense industry, Wired or mobile communication systems, Control and command systems, Robotics, Automation, Ground and satellite systems, High energy systems, Design and implementation of vehicle electrical infrastructure, Design, implementation, testing, calibration of electronic systems used in medicine, Information. There are employment opportunities in the realization, development, operation of systems related to transmission and distribution, and in all areas that require the design, realization and application of technology.
Requirements for Graduation
The education period is 4 years or 8 semesters. During this period, a total of 164 credits of courses, that is, at least 240 ECTS, must be successfully completed. During the 8-semester education period, the student will receive Workplace Training in the 7th or 8th semester. During this period, students will do 1 (20 working days) field internship and 1 (20 working days) business organization internship.
Internship Studies and Workplace Training
Students are required to do an internship as a completion activity to reinforce their educational achievements with laboratory practices and real workplace applications. In internship practices, it is expected to gain workplace etiquette and discipline outside of the professional field.. In order to get to know technological developments, improve their application skills and gain management experience, students can work in appropriate facilities, factories or relevant units of companies; They are required to complete 40 working days of internship, including 1 (20 working days) field internship and 1 (20 working days) business organization internship, and in addition to these internships, they are required to complete workplace training during the 7th or 8th semester.
History
Faculty of Technology, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in 2009 and started undergraduate education in 2012. Our department had its first graduates in the 2015-2016 academic year. Our department has only a formal education program. 40 students enroll in this program every year.
The proposal to open Master's and Doctorate Programs in our department was examined at the Higher Education General Assembly meeting dated 15.08.2013, and taking into account the Higher Education General Assembly Decision dated 08.10.2009, the relevant programs were opened in accordance with Articles 4 and 7 of the Regulation on the Organization and Operation of Graduate Education and Training Institutes. It has been approved. Master's and Doctorate programs in our department were opened in 2013, and the admission of graduate students started from the 2013-2014 Spring semester. Education and Training continues with 15 Academic Staff.
